Are you familiar with unit testing?
It's a crucial component in software development that allows you essentially to validate specifications and business rules and a must have for any programmer.
⁉️ But what exactly are unit tests? Here's the definition I follow:
💡Unit tests capture behaviors and focus on the "unit" of behavior rather than technical details.
💡They are the first client for the use case they test (system under test) and thus lead to the best API discovery.
Unit tests use test doubles to substitute dependencies and are frameworks/libraries independent.
💡They provide immediate feedback when developing existing or new features and are incredibly fast, taking less than a second.
💡Most importantly, they grant future non-regression and ensure that your software will continue to function properly as it evolves.
☝️⚒🤓If you're not using unit tests in your software development process, you're missing out on a crucial tool that can save you time and effort down the road.
So what do unit tests mean to you? Let's start the conversation!
